Happy Opening Day, White Sox fans! After a long offseason, we’re finally just hours away from first pitch.
On Wednesday evening, the team held its first workout in Milwaukee, where manager Will Venable met with the media and revealed his first lineup of the year. Here’s how the Sox will roll things out:
- Chase Meidroth – 2B
- Colson Montgomery – SS
- Miguel Vargas – 3B
- Andrew Benintendi – DH
- Austin Hays – LF
- Munetaka Murakami – 1B
- Everson Pereira – RF
- Edgar Quero – C
- Luisangel Acuña – CF
As previously announced, Shane Smith will get the ball for his first Opening Day start, squaring off against his former organization in the process. The Brewers will counter with right-hander Jacob Misiorowski, whom only Austin Hays has faced previously (1-for-1).
First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. CT at American Family Field. The game will be televised on CHSN and broadcast on ESPN Chicago (WMVP 1000 AM).
