White Sox Farm Report: June 5th, 2025

by Brendan Gallian

Between Tim Elko’s walk-off, news of the Sox’s long-term investment deal with Justin Ishbia, and Kyle Teel’s upcoming promotion, Thursday was an exciting day to be a Sox fan.

This excitement was fueled by several performances down on the farm.

Colson Montgomery launched two home runs for the Knights, George Wolkow homered among a 15-hit outburst in Kannapolis, and both Grant Umburger and Tommy Vail turned in five shutout innings in their respective starts.

All this and more in today’s minor league recap!

Triple-A Charlotte Knights (28-32)

Colson Montgomery provided nearly all of the Knights’ offense with a pair of long home runs as the team fell to the first-place Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Brooks Baldwin logged another extra-base hit, his 10th in 13 games with Charlotte this season.

FINAL: Knights 4, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 11 | Box Score

Double-A Birmingham Barons (29-24)

The Barons tallied 10 hits — all singles — and seven walks in their 6-0 shutout victory over the Rocket City Trash Pandas.

Jacob Gonzalez reached base four times, while Tommy Vail punched out eight across five shutout innings.

FINAL: Barons 6, Rocket City Trash Pandas 0 | Box Score

High-A Winston Salem Dash (18-36)

The Dash went down quietly in Sam Antonacci’s return. Luis Pineda recorded three of the team’s five hits, while four pitchers combined to strike out 12 Asheville Tourists.

FINAL: Dash 0, Asheville Tourists 2 | Box Score

Low-A Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (29-25)

All nine Cannon Baller starters had at least one hit as the team thrashed the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 12-1. Kannapolis totaled 15 hits and nine walks in the blowout win.

George Wolkow lined his fifth homer of the season to put the Ballers up 2-0 in the second, and the offense was off and running from there.

On the mound, Grant Umberger ran his record to 4-0 with five innings of shutout ball. The southpaw now owns a 2.13 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across his first 38 innings this season.

FINAL: Cannon Ballers 12, Myrtle Beach Pelicans 1 | Box Score

ACL White Sox (12-11)

The ACL Sox stayed hot with a 5-3 win over the ACL Brewers. Mason Dinesen was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and accounted for half of the team’s hits.

Mathias LaCombe fired three no-hit innings, walking one while striking out five.

FINAL: ACL White Sox 5, ACL Brewers 3 | Box Score

DSL White Sox (0-2)

The DSL Sox game against the DSL Pirates Black was suspended due to rain in the bottom of the 2nd. The game will resume on June 13, with the Pirates holding a 2-0 lead. The Sox will have runners on second and third with two outs.
