White Sox 5, Rangers 4: Bryan Ramos walks it off

by Jordan Lazowski

The White Sox got their first walk-off victory this season in today’s 5-4 victory, courtesy of Bryan Ramos’ infield single. It was the team’s third consecutive Spring Training victory.

Jesse Scholtens was the first pitcher up today, completing three innings of work while giving up just two earned runs. He was followed by Bryan Shaw, Nicolas Padilla, Franklin German, Lane Ramsey, and today’s winning pitcher Andrew Perez. Perez was the only relief pitcher to give up a run today, being credited with both a win and a blown save after giving up a game-tying home run in the top of the ninth.

The offense got underway today with a solo home run from Elvis Andrus, though the only other true firepower was provided by Erik Gonzalez, who hit a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth to give the White Sox the lead at the time. Also notable is the fact that the White Sox stole six bases in today’s game and were caught only once.

With the victory, the White Sox improve to 5-3 on the Spring.

W: Andrew Perez (1-0) | L: Antoine Kelly (0-1)
