Last night’s narrative is becoming a familiar—and positive—one for the White Sox. Erick Fedde or Anthony Kay take the mound, they do their job across roughly five innings, the offense grabs a lead, and the bullpen shuts things down from there.
This time it was Kay, who allowed two runs across five frames in Texas in a 4-2 winning effort for Chicago. Chase Meidroth and Andrew Benintendi each had a pair of RBI singles as the White Sox secured a second homerless victory in the series. Three of the runs were scored by Braden Montgomery, who reached via walk, fielder’s choice, and single.
Jordan Hicks, Grant Taylor, and Bryan Hudson provided the spotless relief outing Wednesday, yielding zero runners in scoring position. Taylor looked especially formidable as he racked up five strikeouts in his two innings of work. Hicks, meanwhile, has been other-worldly since his return from injury in mid-June, as he’s now up to 10.2 scoreless innings with 18 Ks.
With the outcome, the South Siders earned their seventh win in nine games, their third straight series victory, and a fresh one-game divisional lead on the back of a Cleveland loss.

Next Game
The White Sox rest tomorrow before facing off against another AL West opponent on Friday, the Houston Astros. Chicago will be back at home at The Rate, however, and will send out Davis Martin (9-5, 3.31 ERA) to take on Spencer Arrighetti (7-5, 4.34 ERA).
