The Best of White Sox Twitter: We’re Bringing it Back!

by Jordan Lazowski

Happy Friday, Sox fans! After introducing “The Best of White Sox Twitter” last year with a lot of success, we are bringing the series back for a second season, starting TODAY!

First, a note from our fearless leader, Joe Binder, on why he decided to start this series:

For over three and a half years, I have been running our Sox On 35th account and tend to come across dozens of quality tweets on a daily basis. Because White Sox Twitter produces so much great content and has even better personalities behind it, I thought it would be cool to come up with a way to highlight the best of the best at the end of each week.

– Joe Binder, Owner and Founder of Sox On 35th

Now, back to your favorite Editor-in-Chief. All week long, we (read: I) spend a lot of time on Twitter, and we will be compiling your top tweets into an article every Friday. We’ll place the top tweets each week into one of four categories (described below). At the end of each category we will place a poll where you can vote on the winners for the week. Winners for each week will be combined into one poll at the end of the month for a monthly “Best Tweet” and the winner will walk away with a set of our koozies. Who knows, we might raise the stakes as the year goes on too…

You’re probably wondering, “how do I get your attention so my tweet is selected?” Well, there aren’t specific guidelines to land on this list per se – though Carson Fulmer tweets win you good favor with me, which is all that really matters. The tweets we’ll typically come across are the ones that receive a lot of engagement. That being said, they also check a box for being either thought-provoking, funny, informational, etc. so that’s what you should keep in mind.

Since we realize there are likely a lot of these kinds of tweets that fly under the radar, your help will become crucial. If you ever come across one that you think deserves to be recognized, send a DM to @SoxOn35th or Joe’s personal account @JoeBinder for consideration in future articles.

As we wrap up, take a look below at some examples of tweets that would likely appear in our weekly articles in each category. The categories are the same as last year: Humor, Analysis, Verified Accounts, and “Passion, Pride, Tradition.” Let’s have some fun this year folks!

Humor

This is where we encourage you to go for the laughs. Since this category is almost always going to be the most selective of the few, you’ve got to be on your A-game to land here.

Analysis

If you like to dive deep into the stats or make close observations about various aspects of the team, this is the category for you!

Passion, Pride, Tradition

The root of what it means to be a member of the White Sox and a fan of the team. These are a collection of tweets that don’t necessarily check the box for being funny or overly stat-heavy. Sometimes, they can be emotional takes about how we’re all feeling during a certain game. Other times, they can be as simple as a positive statement or a personal creation like a painting or graphic design. It’ll vary from week to week but I think you get the gist – show us how much you care about this team and the work they put in on the field.

Verified Accounts

Pretty self-explanatory here. This category is reserved for your favorite verified accounts and media members.

Get to Tweeting!

Get the gist of it now? Good.

Well, what are you waiting for?!? Get to Tweeting, and we will see you here next week!
