Simulated Sox: White Sox vs. Rockies, April 29th

by Sox On 35th Staff

This wasn’t the two game trip to the Mile-High City the Sox envisioned. After falling short in the first game, Colorado’s five-run fifth wiped away any shot of a win.

Lucas Giolito just didn’t have it as the ball was flying early in this one. With two on, Rockies catcher Dom Nunez took him deep in the second to open the scoring with a ball that just snuck over the wall in right field. Nolan Arenado’s solo shot in the following inning was a 429-foot tank to center as the Rockies put another two runs on the board to make it 5-0 by the end of the third.

Rookie Danny Mendick was the first sign of life all day for the Sox and made our Jordan Lazowski a very proud supporter, as the second baseman crushed his first Major League career homer. It was the only Sox run before the floodgates completely opened in the bottom of the frame. Colorado alternated between singles and doubles as they made it 10-1 out of nowhere, putting this game in the bag.

Notably, Nomar Mazara and Luis Robert also homered in this one as the two of them have been displaying their power a little more recently. Let’s see if that carries over into this weekend against Baltimore.

FINAL: Rockies 11, White Sox 5
