Simulated Sox: White Sox vs. Angels, April 25th

by Sox On 35th Staff

The power of Eloy Jimenez and a solid outing from Dylan Cease (thanks, Cubs!) put the Sox back in the win column. The team has yet to suffer a losing streak of more than two games so far this season, taking this one by a final of 4-2.

If you’ve been following along, then you know that home runs have been the primary producer of runs for the Sox in this series. Jimenez belted one to dead center in the fourth to continue that trend, driving in Yasmani Grandal and Yoan Moncada for a 3-0 lead. It wasn’t until the seventh when Danny Mendick scored on a double play that the team managed to find an alternative to the long ball.

These four runs were plenty of support for Dylan Cease, who had everything clicking today. He found the zone early and often as he pitched to contact, resulting in plenty of pop outs and ground outs. It’s also part of the reason why he gave up five hits, though the Angels only managed to get a run off of him in the fifth on a Justin Upton solo shot. All in all, Cease continues to look more comfortable with each start as we approach the end of April.

The Halos would go on to threaten in the eighth after David Fletcher lined on to left for an RBI single and put runners on first and second. Steve Cishek worked out of it by getting Rendon to fly out to end the inning, clearing the way for Aaron Bummer to lock things down in the ninth. I should add, this is a smart move by Ricky considering Colome pitched last night and blew it late.

FINAL: White Sox 4, Angels 2
