Simulated Sox: A’s vs. White Sox, June 27th

by Sox On 35th Staff

Stellar pitching and just enough offense led the Sox to a 2-1 victory.

Gio Gonzalez was solid, striking out eight over six innings of one-run baseball. He earned his 10th win of the season and notched player of the game honors in the process. Michael Kopech was even more dominant and Steve Cishek was flat-out unhittable in relief.

After Oakland’s Stephen Piscotty hit a solo bomb in the third, James McCann responded with a sac fly to tie things up 1-1 in the fourth. The White Sox would get their second and eventual game-winning run in the sixth when Edwin Encarnacion doubled off the centerfield wall to plate Jose Abreu with two outs.

With the seventh-straight win, the White Sox now jump to 20 games over .500 and take back second-place in the AL Central. They also take over the top Wild Card spot as our daily sims come to an end. Check out the “Next Game” section below for more.

FINAL: White Sox 2, Tigers 1
