Select White Sox Season Ticket Holders Eligible for Field of Dream Tickets

by Joe Binder

If you’re a White Sox season ticket holder, you might want to check your email.

A message has gone out today with a special offer for eligible parties to register for a chance to purchase a “Ticket Strip” to the MLB Field of Dreams Game. The “Ticket Strip” will consist of two (2) tickets and one (1) parking pass for the movie location. All seats will be bench-style (no-seat back), and the exact location of tickets is still to be determined.

If you are one of the chosen entrants, two (2) tickets must be bought at $400 each. The email notes that for the avoidance of doubt, if selected, the recipient will be obligated to make a purchase. All tickets will be mobile only and delivered approximately 24 hours prior to the game to avoid being resold.

As of 4:00 p.m. Central Time, the ticket purchase registration officially opened and it will stay that way until Friday, July 23rd at 5:00 p.m. Central Time. Winners will be selected and notified on Monday, July 26th and the credit card entered in the survey attached at the bottom of the email will be charged for the full $800 amount.

In addition to season ticket holders, those who live in Iowa will also have the unique opportunity of attending the game. Fans who are interested must enter by 11:00 a.m Central Time on Friday, July 23rd and have a valid Iowa zip code to be eligible. The random drawing for those entrants will take place on August 1st, with winners being notified and able to complete their purchase in the days following. A link to register along with further information can be found here.

The Field of Dreams game will be taking place on Thursday, August 12th as the White Sox are set to face the Yankees. A temporary stadium has been built adjacent to the famous movie site and has a capacity of up to 8,000 fans. First pitch on FOX will be at 6:15 p.m. CT from Dyersville, Iowa, with parking gates opening at 2:00 p.m. CT and ballpark gates opening at 3:00 p.m.

Once the contest takes place, it will mark the first ever Major League game played in the state of Iowa. A historic night in many different ways, and a definite once in a lifetime experience.

What are your thoughts on the $400 tickets? Are you planning on entering into the raffle? Let us know in the comments below!

I am very disappointed in MLB!
I have wanted a chance to go to this game for 2 years.
I have hotel reservations, paid flight, rental car and what appears to be no chance to attend the game.
I have entered my name when ever I received a message from MLB, now because I am not an Iowa resident or White Sox season ticket holder, I am not eligible, very poorly planned and VERY unfair.

50 years ago, Aug. 7th, my husband and I were married. After growing up a Yankee fan, my husband and I attended our 1st NY Yankee game in NYC on our honeymoon. I would love to surprise him with tickets to the Field of Dreams game for our anniversary.

At $400 per ticket I am no longer interested! What a shame! It is ridiculous that the average person cannot attend a baseball game anymore. You ruined this event with greed!

My partner, Jim, is a HUGE Field of Dreams fan – he watches the movie every time it is on. I would love to be able to surprise him with tickets to this event however $400 per ticket is waaay out of my league. Guess we will have to continue watching the game on TV rather than in person – sad, sad, sad 🙁
