The Chicago White Sox are reportedly shaking up their pitching staff by promoting one of the top pitching prospects in baseball!
According to Elijah Evans, the Sox plan on calling up top prospect Noah Schultz on Tuesday to make his debut in Chicago against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Schultz, 22, has been nothing short of dominant to begin the 2026 season. After a somewhat disappointing 2025 season that was held back by injuries and command issues, MLB Pipeline’s 46th-ranked prospect has recaptured the form that made him one of the most highly regarded pitching prospects in all of baseball. Through three starts this season, Schultz has allowed only 2 earned runs through 14 innings, while striking out 19 batters and only allowing two walks. He has been on a pitch count to begin the season, but has been building his arm up and lasted 72 pitches through five innings in his most recent start.
A former first-rounder, the Sox originally signed Schultz to a $2.8 million signing bonus to pull him away from his Vanderbilt commitment. While his innings were limited early in his pro career, his performance on the mound spoke for itself, quickly establishing himself as one of the premier pitching prospects in baseball. 2024 was his true breakout season, however, where he logged 88.1 innings between High-A and Double-A, holding a 2.24 ERA while posting an 11.72 K/9 rate and limiting his walks.
While Schultz was expected to make his way on the MLB roster at some point this season, a debut in April is much earlier than most anticipated. His dominance on the mound to begin the 2026 season, however, forced the issue with the Sox front office. He will look to carry the momentum he has built with him to the MLB level, where he will face a tough challenge against a solid Rays lineup. Expect Chicago to be buzzing for his long-anticipated MLB debut.
