Report: Juan Uribe Jr. nearing deal with the White Sox

by Joe Binder

The White Sox are reportedly on the verge of an agreement with the son of 2005 World Series champion Juan Uribe.

MLB insider Hector Gomez reports that shortstop prospect Juan Uribe Jr. is close to signing with the organization. The son of the former South Side infielder was first linked to the team back in January, and has since gone on his personal instagram and tagged @SoxOn35th with Gomez’s latest update, only adding fuel to the fire.

Unfortunately, not much information is available on the 2022 Dominican prospect. Gomez has tweeted out several videos in the past, giving us our only real glimpse of Uribe Jr. in action. He appears to possess his father’s mechanics in the field with a decent range and arm up the middle. His motion at the plate varies a little at the dish, but are still smooth nonetheless.

As for Juan Sr., he’s commented on his son’s potential landing spot and said the following back in a January interview:

“Several teams have shown interest in my son, but I would like him to sign with the White Sox because he was born and raised in Chicago and I played for them for five seasons. I love White Sox fans.”
