Padres 4, White Sox 3: Late lead slips away for second straight day

For the second day in a row, the White Sox let a late lead slip away, falling 4-3 to the Padres.

Austin Hays got things started early for the Sox, driving in his third run of the Spring with an RBI single in the first inning. The Padres grabbed the lead in the third on a two-run homer from Nick Castellanos.

San Diego didn’t lead for long, as Miguel Vargas launched his first homer of the Spring in the bottom half of the frame to tie things up.

Derek Hill put the Sox back in front in the sixth with his second extra-base hit of the game, driving in Matt Hogan with a double.

The Padres scored in the seventh and eighth innings to re-take the lead for good.

Sean Newcomb made his second start of Spring Training, allowing a pair of runs over three innings of work.
