Just one day after the first set of betting odds were released, there’s already a new favorite sitting atop the list for next White Sox manager.

The site SportsBetting.ag released their updated odds for who would be the next White Sox manager, and leading the list was none other than Ozzie Guillen. The former skipper replaces Bochy, who was previously sitting in the one-spot.

Here are the latest odds as of publishing (October 7):

  • Ozzie Guillen: +500
  • Bruce Bochy: +600
  • Sandy Alomar Jr.: +700
  • Matt Quatraro: +800
  • Carlos Beltran: +900
  • George Lombard: +1000
  • Fredi Gonzalez: +1100
  • Joe Espada: +1200
  • Miguel Cairo: +1200
  • A.J. Pierzynski: +1400
  • Willie Harris: +1600
  • Joe Maddon: +1800
  • A.J. Hinch: +2000
  • Curtis Granderson: +2000
  • Eduardo Perez: +2000
  • Jim Thome: +2000
  • Joe Girardi: +2000
  • Mike Shildt: +2000
  • Chris Getz: +2500
  • Ron Wotus: +33000

Of all the names on this list, none has more managerial experience and success than Bochy. A three-time World Series Champion manager, Bochy spent his career with the Padres (1995-2006) and Giants (2007-2019) before calling it quits in 2019. He has a career record of 2,003-2,029, including a 44-33 record in the postseason. He would bring experience to the dugout, but previous heart concerns and time spent away from the game would be natural concerns for fans.

As for Guillen, a portion of the fanbase has long been calling for his return thanks in part to opinions shared on the pregame and postgame shows. The 58-year-old became the first Latino manager to win a World Series after the White Sox’s dominant postseason run in 2005. Following eight years at the helm, the Venezuelan native was traded to Miami in September 2011, where his stint came to an end prematurely in October 2012 after controversial comments related to Fidel Castro. He’s been out of Major League Baseball ever since, though he has previously expressed his desire to return to a dugout.

While these odds are based on pure speculation, they’re worth watching as more rumors circulate and interviews are conducted. Oftentimes, the betting markets begin to move as more information is known – whether or not it is widely available information. In this case, however, it’s likely due to many people putting money down in the early going so don’t read too much into it just yet.

As more becomes available, we will continue to provide updates. In the meantime, you can get familiar with many of the other names on the betting list via our manager articles below.

Ozzie = No Thanks.

Mark Ottenfeld

Mike Quatraro is the top choice.
1. He doesn’t have any bad white sox organization tendencies.
2. He comes from a good organization in TB that knows how to grow players and is usually competitive.
3 He knows the Cleveland organization, a team that has far eclipsed the Sox at every position.
We need someone with no ties to this organization. We need to clean house from Kenny all the way down to Getz. There shouldnt be any room for old-timers like Andrus, Jose, etc. Get what you can or let them walk. We need way more than right and 2nd. Pitching is a soft spot and we need good minor league bodies.

Who cares what some guy reading his phone thinks. Fans have zero input into the hiring. I hope they get it right. Bochey, Ozzie, Madden, they all would know how to fix the mess
