MLB releases this year’s 4th of July cap collection

by Joe Binder

The 4th of July is still a few weeks away, but New Era is already gearing up for the special occasion.

The hat company, in conjunction with Major League Baseball, unveiled their special cap collection that is to be worn on-field by all thirty big-league teams over the Independence Day weekend (July 1-4, 2022). Scroll through the gallery below to view the White Sox-specific cap.

This year’s design is definitely an interesting one, to say the least. The American-flag pattern is spread across the white front panels in a paintbrush effect, while the team’s usual logo is recolored to red, white, and navy blue on the crown. The White Sox are one of 14 teams that elected to have a red-backing on their caps, while 16 other clubs will feature a somewhat cleaner-looking blue.

Based on the current schedule, it appears the Sox will be debuting their new headwear during a three-game road trip against the San Francisco Giants. The action begins Friday, July 1st at 9:15 p.m. CDT from Oracle Park.
