Despite the exciting start to the day with the trade for A.J. Pollock, the Sox fell to the A’s this afternoon 12-4. Dallas Keuchel was on the mound today, and he had a rough day, throwing 4.2 innings and giving up 11 hits and 7 ER, including 2 long balls. Aaron Bummer also struggled a bit, giving up three runs in one inning of work, while Bennett Sousa gave up one run on two hits in one inning. In more positive news, Liam Hendriks threw well today, striking out two hitters, while new White Sox Kendall Graveman threw one scoreless inning.
On the offense, the Sox managed to push across 4 runs today. Jose Abreu was a standout today, tallying 3 hits. Potential Backup Catcher Nick Ciuffo opened the scoring with an RBI single in the bottom of the 2nd, scoring Leury Garcia. In the same inning, Tim Anderson added an RBI single of his own, scoring Josh Harrison. Romy Gonzalez hit a sac fly in the 8th to score JJ Muno, and Laz Rivera walked in the bottom of 9th to push across the 4th run of the day for the Sox.
Here’s anything you might’ve missed from today’s game – but don’t let the tough loss distract you from the fact that the White Sox have a new Right Fielder in A.J. Pollock!
