In another high-scoring affair, the White Sox ended up in the loss column in Tuesday afternoon’s matchup against the Athletics.
A very lengthy first inning got things started, with A’s starter Jeffrey Springs and Sox starter Shane Smith each allowing three runs to their respective opponents.
A few White Sox hitters shone at the plate, but none shone brighter than Korey Lee, who obliterated a 443-foot home run in the third inning and gutted out two walks at the plate. He continues to impress this spring and make things interesting with roster decisions looming.
It was not the best day for some high-profile White Sox pitchers, with Shane Smith, Grant Taylor, and Hagen Smith all having some subpar outings on the bump, as those three combined allowed nine runs.
Jordan Leasure was a highlight from the pitching staff, as he put up a clean sheet in his one inning of work while getting his three outs in just five pitches.

Key Performers
Korey Lee (C): 1-for-2, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB, SB
Lee continues to have a productive, solid Spring, tapping into some solid power with a 443-foot home run in the third inning, registering an exit velocity of 110.8 MPH.
He’s out of minor league options and seemingly catcher #3 on the depth chart behind Kyle Teel and Edgar Quero, but every good performance from Lee will continue to challenge the front office with looming roster decisions in just a few weeks.
Miguel Vargas (3B): 2-for-3, 2B, 2 R, BB, SB
Vargas is having a really nice Spring Training, which is only emphasized by getting on base three more times in today’s contest, even tacking on a stolen base in there.
This kind of consistent production from Vargas will make him a great candidate to provide steady offense from the middle of the order, once Kyle Teel and Munetaka Murakami come back from the World Baseball Classic.
Next Game
The White Sox head back to Camelback Ranch, as they’ll be taking on the Los Angeles Angels at 3:05 CST. Anthony Kay is projected to take the bump for the Sox, and he’ll be facing off against Alek Manoah.
