All-Star Game Updates: Anderson to Hit Seventh in Starting Lineup

by Jordan Lazowski

Though yesterday’s main event was the Home Run Derby, there was plenty of information to come out of the day’s festivities in Los Angeles. Both Dusty Baker and Brian Snitker announced their lineups and starters, while Tim Anderson and Liam Hendriks had plenty of fun during the media day.

Here are some updates from Los Angeles!

Tim Anderson to Hit Seventh in AL All-Star Lineup

Yesterday, Dusty Baker announced his lineup for the All-Star Game. Tim Anderson will bat seventh in the game, before Andres Gimenez, and after Byron Buxton. Talk about lineup protection:

  1. Shohei Ohtani, DH, Angels
  2. Aaron Judge, RF, Yankees
  3. Rafael Devers, 3B, Red Sox
  4. Vladimir Guerrero Jr, 1B, Blue Jays
  5. Giancarlo Stanton, LF, Yankees
  6. Byron Buxton, CF, Twins
  7. Tim Anderson, SS, White Sox
  8. Andres Gimenez, 2B, Guardians
  9. Alejandro Kirk, C, Blue Jays

Tampa Bay Rays starter Shane McClanahan has earned the honor of the All-Star Game starter in today’s game, and he will go against the hometown hero Clayton Kershaw.

Usually, the starters in the All-Star Game get at least two at-bats and five innings in the field, and this will likely be no different for Anderson and the AL All-Stars this year. There is no word yet on who would potentially close out the game, but it would likely be either Jordan Romano or Liam Hendriks, who are first and fourth in AL saves, respectively, this season.
