by Sox On 35th Contributors

With hitters reporting to Spring Training on Monday, the White Sox now have their entire team, with the exception of Jose Abreu, in camp preparing for the Spring Training Schedule. The first game takes place against the Milwaukee Brewers Sunday at 2:05 PM Central Time. The game will be played at Camelback Ranch.

Jose Abreu Contracts COVID-19

This morning it was announced that Jose Abreu’s arrival to Camelback Ranch will be delayed due to a positive COVID test. The defending AL MVP says that he believes he contracted the virus in January but is asymptomatic and should be ready to return at full strength once he clears cover protocols. This is the only positive COVID test for the White Sox so far this season.

Sense of Confidence Arising throughout First Week of Camp

This week has provided us with some interesting quotes from White Sox stars. Tim Anderson, commenting on the Twins, said that he knows the White Sox are way more athletic than them but will have to go out and prove it. Eloy Jimenez, reflecting on Jose Abreu’s MVP season, claimed that one day he will be MVP as well. This is a good sign to see from a young team early, as killer instinct has been preached by the team for the last two months.

La Russa Praises Pitching Staff

When asked about the pitching today, Tony La Russa stated, ” Who hasn’t looked good taking that mound? The arms in this camp really get your attention.” This is a great quote to hear from our skipper as pitching was one of the question marks going into last offseason. The addition of Lance Lynn and Michael Kopech as well as the continued development of Michael Kopech, Dylan Cease, and Garret Crochet should greatly benefit the team in terms of pitching.

Miscellaneous

Here is some random quotes/highlights from the past couple of days in camp.
