Tale of the Tape ’05 Edition: White Sox 12, D-Backs 6

by Jake Bartecki

With the start of the White Sox regular season postponed due to coronavirus concerns, NBC Sports Chicago has decided to re-air 70 victories from the 2005 season from now until June. Here at Sox On 35th, we will also be following along and recapping those games for you in our Tale of the Tape series.

Date of Game: June 15th, 2005

The White Sox improved to 43-22 on the season, Jon Garland earned win number 11, and the club pushed 10 runs cross the plate in the sixth inning alone. It was not a prime Jon Garland start as he surrendered six runs in as many innings, but the 2005 White Sox always had each other’s backs, today being a prime example in a 12-6 victory.

W: Jon Garland (11-2) | L: Russ Ortiz (4-6)

30.9

Juan Uribe lead the way in WPA, with a 30.9. Juan was off to a sluggish start in the hitting category, but this effort seemed to spark a summer run, and one of the best seasons of Uribe’s careers.

Despite not having his best stuff, Jon Garland continued to roll through the 2005 season, getting win number 11.
