With the start of the White Sox regular season postponed due to coronavirus concerns, NBC Sports Chicago has decided to re-air 70 victories from the 2005 season from now until June. Here at Sox On 35th, we will also be following along and recapping those games for you in our Tale of the Tape series.

Once he got past a rough first inning, Freddy Garcia turned dominant in an eight inning outing that featured 10 strikeouts. The offense was also rolling, taking full advantage of the mile high air to cruise to a 9-3 victory. It was the team’s 38th win of the season.

Moment of the Game

Tied at three a piece, today’s big moment came in the fifth inning when the Sox jumped ahead for good. With two on, Juan Uribe drove in the first of the inning’s three runs with an RBI single. It was followed by this beauty of a double from A.J. Pierzynski.

Today’s MVP in terms of Win Probability Added is A.J. Pierzynski with 28.3 points. The catcher had three hits and two runs batted in. Paul Konerko finished as the runner up with 21.4 percentage points.

After singling to centerfield in the 6th inning, Scott Podsednik stole second base off pitcher Joe Kennedy. It was Pods’ 31st stolen base of the season. Keep in mind the date of this game was June 6th.
